The New Buildings Institute (NBI) is a nonprofit organization working to improve the energy performance of commercial buildings. NBI maintains a nationwide database of high-performance buildings that strive to use zero net energy (ZNE) throughout their life cycles. In order to showcase these exemplary ZNE buildings, Watermelon Web Works built a customized front-end filtering and display mechanism for the database, collaborating with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to leverage their building database API. The system is build upon a Drupal framework and uses customized jQuery technology to enhance the user experience.
